The scourge of Mexican drug cartels has infiltrated every corner of the United States, according to a chilling new report from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
As Ukraine’s defeat in the war moves closer, the neocons are desperate to draw the US further into the fight. Over the weekend, former U.S. State Department official Victoria Nuland told ABC News that the U.S. must help facilitate Ukrainian missile attacks deep inside Russian territory. The Biden Administration has to this point avoided involvement in such attacks, likely because Russian president Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia will strike any facility that supplies or facilitates strikes inside of Russia, wherever they may be.
It’s a clear warning from a nuclear power, but as Nuland and her fellow neocons see their Ukraine project failing, they demand escalation. This is just what they did in their previous disastrous projects like the Iraq War, the attacks on Syria and Libya, and the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan. For them the failure is never because it was a bad idea in the first place, but that not enough lives and resources were poured into that bad idea to create a good outcome.
But Russia is no Iraq nor is it Libya. This time they are playing with World War III and nuclear destruction and no one in DC seems concerned.
Last Thursday the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Charles Q. Brown, said that NATO trainers deployed within Ukraine was inevitable. “We’ll get there eventually, over time,” he said. This, of course, is exactly how we got the Vietnam War, but Russia in 2024 is hardly late -1950s Vietnam. Russia of today is a country that can fight back and can project military power all the way to the source, which means the United States.
Is Nuland’s Ukraine project worth dying in a nuclear war over?
The whole U.S. involvement in this proxy war has been based on lie after lie. They said we had to help Ukraine defeat Russia because democracy itself was at stake. Then Ukrainian president Zelensky cancelled elections, so they told us we have to help Ukraine defeat Russia because Putin won’t stop there—he’ll soon be marching through Berlin, London, and maybe even New York!
Doesn’t it remind you of how the neocons were warning us that Saddam was going to attack the U.S. mainland with drones and that he was operating mobile weapons labs? Anything to get the public on board for their war.
The fact is the neocons and warmongers lie constantly. They will do whatever it takes to get their wars and sadly we do not have an independent media in the U.S. to challenge them on their lies. Our media is so closely tied to the military-industrial complex that it is also a stakeholder in war profits, so they aren’t about to rock the boat.
Anyone who thinks we cannot get sucked into another war like we were with George W. Bush’s lie that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction is not paying attention. It is happening again, in real time.
The fact is we live in a deeply corrupt society dominated by individuals who do not believe in truth. When you don’t believe in truth you will have no qualms about manipulating others to do your will. So unless they are stopped, neocons like Nuland will demand more attacks on Russia, more U.S. troops in Ukraine, more escalation. Until Russia fights back. Then it will all be over. Is this what we want?

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, were found dead early on Monday morning following a helicopter crash near the border with Azerbaijan the night prior, per state media.
The country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced five days of mourning after the deadly crash, which was reportedly caused by thick fog over a mountainous area in Iran’s northwest. Six other passengers and crew were also on board – all believed dead.
While Tehran has so far offered no official explanation, nor suggested the incident was a result of sabotage, one unnamed Israeli official rushed to tell Reuters that Tel Aviv had no involvement, while Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin also denied any US role. The State Department later said it had to refuse an Iranian request for assistance, “largely for logistical reasons.”
Frequently dubbed a “hardliner,” Raisi is set to be replaced by First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, who will become interim president, the Ayatollah confirmed. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani – formerly Iran’s top nuclear negotiator – will take the acting FM spot for now, with a new round of elections already scheduled for June 28.
In other news, in an interview with CNN aired on Monday, a prosecutor with the International Criminal Court said the agency is now seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas political leader Yahya Sinwar on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The ICC has also charged other top Hamas officials in relation to the group’s October 7 attack on Israel, as well as Tel Aviv’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for Israel’s massive response in Gaza.
A panel of judges are still considering whether to approve the arrest warrants, which will almost certainly be symbolic as neither Israel nor Hamas are likely to hand over their top leadership for prosecution.
The White House was quick to condemn the announcement as “outrageous,” with President Joe Biden reminding anyone who might have forgotten that he would “always stand with Israel against threats to its security” – no matter how many kindergarteners have to die. Biden continued:
According to several unnamed US officials cited by NBC News, the Biden administration was “close” to freeing 11 detainees still rotting away at America’s torture prison in Guantanamo Bay, but then didn’t.
“Amid concerns about political optics after Hamas’ attack on Israel,” the decision was called off, with no new release date set more than seven months later. All Yemeni citizens of people with ties to Yemen, the 11 prisoners were set to be transferred to Oman last October, but remain stuck in Gitmo despite being cleared for release years ago.
Officials told NBC that “election-year politics” were overshadowing Biden’s earlier promise to reduce the population at, and ultimately close, the infamous prison, though one administration staffer added that Oman has also stalled the process at times. Other officials blamed Congress, saying some lawmakers objected to the “timing” of the release with respect to Israel. Whether the men will be freed remains to be seen.

Bohuslavets said the Ukrainian Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (Kharkiv OVA) paid out funds to fictitious companies during the construction and fortification of the Kharkiv region. The report comes as Russian forces have broken into the northern region of Ukraine and the US continues funding the war.
According to Ukranian Pravda reports, the Russian military has begun to advance in the northern region of Ukraine where funding that was set for fortification was transferred to fake companies. The offensive from the Russian military launched on Monday with attacks on towns and villages, the Kyiv Post reports. A total of 7 billion hryvnias was spent there by Ukraine, according to the report.
This comes as the BBC reports that a regional Ukrainian commander in Kharkiv has said that the first line of defense was missing in a massive "betrayal" in the northern region of the country. Denys Yaroslavskyi, a commander in the region in charge of the Ukrainian Special Reconnaissance Unit, told the outlet, “There was no first line of defence. We saw it. The Russians just walked in. They just walked in, without any mined fields."
He told the BBC that government officials claimed to have built up the mines as the first line of defense at a huge cost. He told reporters, “Either it was an act of negligence, or corruption. It wasn’t a failure. It was a betrayal." He then added, “When we were fighting back for this territory in 2022, we lost thousands of people. We risked our lives."
"And now because someone didn’t build fortifications, we’re losing people again," he stated.
In March, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported on the lack of oversight on the funds going to Ukraine during the war. GAO found in its report from March that the Defense Department is lacking in its ability to provide oversight on the resources being sent to Ukraine in the war.
The GAO reported, "DOD does not have quality data to track delivery of defense articles to Ukraine. DOD guidance on PDA does not clearly define at what point in the delivery process defense articles should be recorded as delivered or provide clear instructions for how DOD service branches are to confirm delivery."
It added that full documentation of the funding being sent to the military effort has been lacking.

The war in Ukraine is escalating now with terrifying rapidity.
This past Sunday, Ukrainian forces fired five U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles — carrying U.S.-supplied cluster bombs — at the Crimean city of Sevastopol. The exact target is unclear. But as Russian air defenses shot them down, one of the missiles with its multiple cluster bomblets accidentally rained down upon Russian families enjoying a day at the beach, killing at least four people (including two children) and injuring more than 150.
Earlier that same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had been calling publicly, again, for permission to use those ATACMS to strike into Russian territory. Zelensky had cited the Ukrainian civilians killed this same weekend in Kharkiv by Russian airstrikes. (Yes, bombs rained down on both Russian and Ukrainian civilians this Trinity Sunday — also known as Pentecost, and the day on which both the Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox churches say the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles of Jesus.)
Throughout the war until, apparently, this weekend, the United States had been refusing permission to hit Russian territory with long-range ATACM missiles. From The New York Times this same Sunday:
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s projected presidential winner Claudia Sheinbaum will become the first female president in the country’s 200-year history.
Sheinbaum, the favored successor of outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, vowed to continue on the direction set by the populist leftist leader. But the cool-tempered scientist offers a sharp contrast in style — and a break with Mexico’s male-dominated political culture.
“I promise that I am not going to let you down,” Sheinbaum said, greeting supports in Mexico City’s colonial-era main plaza, the Zocalo.
The National Electoral Institute’s president said Sheinbaum had between 58.3% and 60.7% of the vote, while opposition candidate Xóchitl Gálvez had between 26.6% and 28.6% and Jorge Álvarez Máynez had between 9.9% and 10.8% of the vote. Sheinbaum’s Morena party was also projected to hold its majorities in both chambers of Congress.
AS IT HAPPENED
